Eternity

Eternity… such an expansive word that is also very final. Our human minds can’t even begin to conceive of what the word really means. And many don’t even try.

Some believe that this life is all that there is, but the Bible says otherwise:

And it is appointed unto men once to die; but after this the judgment—Hebrews 9:27 (KJV)

One day, every single person on this planet will stand before a Holy God and give an account for their worship, at whatever altar they paid homage to throughout their lifetime. Some will have spent their whole lives worshiping at the altar of Krishna or Buddha; others, at the altars of education, drugs, celebrity, sports, sex, Zoroaster, and the list goes on and on. Whatever will keep us from worshiping the most High God.

The only One who died for you so that you may share eternity with Him by the way.

Many people, in their hubris, say that God doesn’t exist. But if one ponders the question logically and honestly, one would have to at least entertain this thought:

What if I’m wrong?

What happens if I reject the gift that is freely given to me when all I had to do was believe in Jesus Christ?

Then God will give you what you chose: an eternity without Him. Without His love, goodness, mercy or His light:

God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.—1 John 1:5 (KJV)

When God removes His light, all that remains is darkness, pain, suffering, and evil. And perhaps what should terrify every single person on this earth is this: that while suffering because you rejected that free gift, you will be plagued by the knowledge that all you had to do was listen to Jesus. You only had to say yes to Him and eternity would have been very different for you. Forever, and ever, and ever.

Forever is a very, very long time to be wrong.

Eternity… Where will you spend it?
